I
started my yoga practice at age 40 for two reasons. Most importantly
to find moments of calm in a life spinning from self imposed demands
through the rough current of the fashion business. A torrent that seemed
to rush me too quickly past the moments of joy and family that I so
desperately wanted to drink in. The second intention was to open and strengthen my body for the journey ahead. My practice with Joanne and Drew did that and more. Their gift of yoga opened my eyes, my body, breath and mind. I found myself seeing things differently, my perspective shifted up. Although I walked the same path I found myself noticing the sky, not the cacophony of feet dodging puddles on the sidewalk. My heart lifted, my breath fuller. I learned to be more present in the moment and with that new found patience came the ability to connect and love more deeply. My new perspectives allowed me to embrace change with a sense of rightness and ease as I shifted my creative expression and productivity into my passion for painting. After practicing yoga for 9 years I entered Ishta Yoga Teachers Training at Yoga Life to broaden my knowledge of anatomy and yogic philosophy. There I found another layer to the inspiring and nurturing community of yogis and made an unexpected discovery. The love of teaching. My intention is to reach deep within to inspire my teaching practice as we all move towards that moment of stillness when our hearts can open fully. Namaste |
